Contemplating Collaboration: Stats from the Field
You’re faced with an issue at work, but you’ve been reading up on a tech-based remedy that will provide holistic collaborative resolution and increase project-management efficiency. So why not make the move, stick with your gut (and the expert advice) and implement the SaaS-based collaborative software to tie the loose ends and maximize your resources?
Well, if you’re just not quite ready to take the leap, you’re not alone. In fact, according to technology analyst firm Frost & Sullivan, only 44 percent of the managers in a recent survey had deployed tools for better collaboration, but 80 percent of those who have not deployed them said they planned to deploy these tools in two to three years.
If only it were as easy as pressing a “start” button…
Collaborative software is not just a trend, a fad or the latest office widget, but rather an internationally functional asset. Companies throughout our global economy are realizing the drastic benefits and have reaped serious rewards.
Even universities and colleges are getting in on collaborative technology. Ohio-based Owens Community College has reduced the amount of time spent generating and communicating project reports by 80 percent. Multi-campus schools like Owens and high-profile universities such as Harvard, MIT and Ohio State are tapping into collaboration software – saving time, money and resources along the way.
Here are a few other facts from Frost & Sullivan’s survey:
- In Research and Development, more than 40% of managers said implementing advanced collaboration tools increased product development and improved the chance of success in the market
- R&D managers noted collaborative software induced higher quality and lower overall cost of development
- More than 40 percent of sales managers surveyed said the tools improved the quality of communications with customers, improved the success of sales efforts and reduced the cost of sales and the sales cycle time
- More than 60 percent reported that collaboration tools reduce the need to travel on business
