You sign up for a project management tool. You assume it will solve all your project management woes. However, you need to initially spend some time understanding your current processes before you can optimize them with the new tool. Automating existing poor processes simply means that you automated them – not that you fixed them! Investing in a new PM tool provides a great opportunity to revisit existing protocols. You need to understand your processes before you can streamline, and automate them.

Consider revisiting existing processes and evaluate where improvement could be made. We often get mired in routine and forget that processes should be flexible to change as business grows. Once you make your processes lean and mean, then it’s time to implement your solution. A recent Webinar from Daptiv dove into ways you can optimize processes and implement Daptiv’s project management solution to make those processes run smoothly – you can listen in to the Webinar here.

Check-ins such as these should become routine within your organization. In all organizations, protocol evolves – once you realize this you can make it a regular practice to evaluate a process and make necessary adjustments to your automated PM tools. There is no reason that a method must be set in a stone – be flexible as your organization matures and people bring new collaboration ideas on board. It’s all about strategy and planning – being open to change ensures that you don’t miss a terrific opportunity for growth.
