New resource for Project Managers: PPMCommunity.com

2010 March 31

This blog – Managing the Work – was created for team leaders, team members and collaborators of all shape and sizes. Those people might call themselves project managers, but maybe they are called a project leader or  the community manager, the marketing lead, the captain of customer success…..there are many titles given to the people who play the role of collaboration manager. We think you get the idea.

Now, for those out there who do fall into the project management field, there is a great new resource available. ppm-blogsWe highlight it on MTWblog because it pulls together an otherwise fragmented community of collaborators for the first time, pooling hundreds of blogs by and for project managers that even those “regular” managers of collaboration among us can appreciate. This new resource is called PPM Community and it’s picking up steam with the progressive, collaborative side of the project management community.

According to the PPM Community ‘About’ section:

The Programme and Project Management Community is the place to visit online that brings together all the programme and project management blogs that are available today. The PPM Community will give project and programme management professionals a one-stop shop to find the very best in PPM blogging. If you’ve ever wanted to find the best blogs that focussed on project and/or programme management related issues and news but didn’t know where to start, you’ll be most welcome at the PPM Community.

PPMCommunity.com highlights the Top 100 project management blogs and categorizes the rest so it’s easy to find what you want. We love the fact that:

  • No registration is required to vote – and you can vote for all of your favorite PM blogs once
  • Project managers themselves have shown leadership in creating a collaborative, community resource

We here at MTWblog believe that project management is an inherently social and collaborative process and career. The Web just accelerates and smooths the road.

Case in point – project managers that blog –  not just for fun or as a hobby, but because their life’s work is one of a collaborative nature that benefits by interaction with peers. Kudos to the bloggers! (Especially to Geoff Crane, author of the Papercut Edge blog, from whom we borrowed the image for PPM Community!)

Even though Managing the Work was not designed purely for project managers, we are listed as a resource on PPM Community. If you you like what you read here and think it’s worth sharing with other project management professionals, you can weigh in with a vote for us here.

Soon we’ll be posting a mini interview with Amy, one of the heroes behind the PPM Community project. If you’re on Twitter, be sure to follow @PPMCommunity to stay in the loop.

We hope you enjoy perusing the Top 100 project management blogs!
